Perks & Benefits

  • $50 annual hotel credit (Chase portal)

  • 10% anniversary point bonus

The Verdict

5/5
ByEllis Church·Mar 11, 2026

The best first travel rewards card — low fee, flexible points, room to grow.

The CSP is the best entry point into the points and miles world. The 75K bonus is worth nearly $1,000 when transferred to Hyatt, and the $95 fee is a fraction of what premium cards charge. If you eat out regularly and travel a few times a year, this card pays for itself immediately. Graduate to the CSR later when you're ready for the lounge life.

Pros

  • 3x on dining, streaming, and online shopping covers where most people actually spend
  • $95 annual fee is easy to justify with the 75K signup bonus alone (worth $937+ via transfers)
  • Access to Chase transfer partners (Hyatt, United, Southwest) unlocks premium redemptions
  • $50 annual hotel credit through Chase Travel offsets most of the fee
  • 10% anniversary bonus on points earned that year adds up quietly

Cons

  • No lounge access — you'll feel the gap at airports compared to the CSR or Venture X
  • 1x on groceries and gas means you need a companion card for everyday spending
  • Foreign transaction fee is absent, but the 1.25cpp portal rate is modest compared to CSR's Points Boost
  • Chase One Sapphire rule blocks pairing this with the CSR
