The Verdict

4/5
ByEllis Church·Mar 11, 2026

The only card that earns points on rent — and transfers 1:1 to Hyatt.

If you pay rent, you should have this card. Period. The average American renter pays $1,700/month — that's 20,400 Bilt points per year on money you're already spending, transferable 1:1 to Hyatt where they're worth 2+ cents each. That's $400+/year in travel value from rent alone. The 1x rate on other purchases is weak, so use it only for rent and housing payments. Pair with a CSP or Amex Gold for everything else.

Pros

  • Earn points on rent with no fee and no processing surcharge — literally no other card does this
  • 1:1 transfer to Hyatt, American Airlines, United, Air Canada, and more — premium transfer partners
  • No annual fee and no late fees — unusually renter-friendly terms
  • No foreign transaction fee is a nice bonus for a no-fee card
  • $100 Bilt Cash welcome bonus requires no spending threshold

Cons

  • Only 1x on everything — the earning rate is mediocre for non-rent spending
  • No signup bonus in the traditional sense (no points for meeting a spend threshold)
  • Must make 5 transactions per month to earn points on rent — forces usage on other purchases
  • Bilt's transfer partners are strong but the program is young and could change terms
